LEADING ORGANISATION: Waag Technology & Society
Sander van der Waal. Waag’s Reserch Director.
BRIEF OF THE EVENT
Digitalisation of our European societies needs to be rooted in a stronger foundation that respects human rights and is based on our common, public values. Citizens should be at the core of this process and should be able to take a much more pro-active role in defining how our societies are shaping digital initiatives, and be part of the governance of them. This has deep implications for how we structure initiatives such as the New European Bauhaus which has ambitious goals for how we “design future ways of living, situated at the crossroads between art, culture, social inclusion, science and technology”. How do we ensure that digitalisation and governance with citizens at the core will be addressed systemically as part of their approach? We look forward to discussing this in the session.
