Hotel Marte is a 3-star city hotel located in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) with approximately 30 staff members.

CHALLENGE

To promote a work culture that can improve internal communication.

IMPROBABLE COLLABORATOR

Manena Juan y Fernando Maseda, espacioGuía, is a collective that was originally formed in 2005 focusing on the interaction of art and society and aiming to promote collective creative processes with a transdisciplinary approach and living laboratories in which to learn by doing. The collective is the result of a self-learning process that encompasses the plastic arts, cultural research and also independent management.

PROPOSAL

Perform a relational intervention in order to create an informal horizontal communication space that can help create quality emotional links and consolidate a sense of community that is based on trust. Visualise people and the relationships between people: emotional mapping.

RESULT

The work done for the hotel was completed in a project entitled “VAMOS A_MARTE” (Let’s go to Mars), which was aimed at improving communication and relations among the organisation’s staff.

The project combined two dynamics: one based on analysis and knowledge, in the form of mappings, and another on play and socialisation, in the form of artistic actions. Both of these provided feedback for each other because the mappings express situational diagnoses and the creative actions are a practical way of resolving these situations.
